After having finished the Dutch Film Academy in 1982, I worked with Dutch and English cameramen as a focus puller and camera-assistant.

In 1991 I started operating and working as D.O.P. and gained experience in commercials, TV series, and features. I worked in several countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States, mainly for shooting commercials, but also for documentaries in the Sahara and on top of the Kilimanjaro.

I have worked on more than 500 commercials including two Golden Lion winning commercial at the Cannes filmfestival. I have worked on small and big budget features.

I am specialized in remote head operating, aerial- and underwater photography and experienced in digital effects, computer generated images, bluescreen and Anamorphic/IMAX formats.

The last 10-15 years I have spent a lot of time traveling between East and West. Working in Cina, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore, was a nice change from Europe. I still try to combine working on both continents.  Its just a flight away :-)

Lately I have been shooting a lot on digital mediums like the RED camera and I really like the new tools. It's not film yet but it is a serious consideration for every production. Some of the material on the first RED Digital Cinema showreel is from my hand. I have also gathered an extensive knowledge of the format and can help you making the right decision for your project. To collect the knowledge about the new digital revolution I run another website called REDtalk.nl where you find more in depth information about Digital Cinematography and Postproduction.
